Addressed to Hongkong No.62.

Peking despatch No. 78 of 5th August, 1936. Note dated

26th October has been received from the Waichiaopu in regard

to instructions said to have been issued for the removal of

certain residents in Kowloon city to Ya Chien-wei (Giles

12831-1737-12529) before the end of the year instead of

Kou Shih-ling as previously arranged.

2.

Waichiaopu state that it is evident that the

residents in question are not yet willing to remove and as

both places named are outside the city they may if forced to

remove become homeless.

3. Waichiaopu therefore request that the government of

Hong Kong be moved to cancel or suspend the original proposal

to force the residents of Kowloon city to remove. Reply is

requested.

4.

Copy and translation of note follow by air mail.

5. What reply would Your Excellency wish me to

return?
